How we use your information
This research App – the “App” – is provided by MGE Data, an affiliate company of the Ipsos Group, commonly known as Ipsos (‘Ipsos’, ‘we’ or ‘us’). MGE Data is a research technology company with an office at Hybešova 310/65, 602 00 Brno-střed, Czech Republic. This privacy policy explains how we use any personal data we collect from the App about you (‘participant’, ‘you’ or ‘your’) and how it will be used for research purposes. This privacy policy should be read in conjunction with the privacy policy of the relevant Ipsos affiliate who is independently controlling or jointly controlling the research project with a client.

1. What is the purpose of this research App?
The App is used to support advertising research projects which require tracking your geographic location. The App assists Ipsos research clients in measuring the effectiveness of advertising from locations you have visited in which you have been exposed to the client advertising. The App also provides Ipsos with human mobility research capabilities

2. What personal data do we collect about you from the App?
Ipsos will be collecting personal data from the App within the following categories:

  • Identification Data
  • age and gender
  • Contact Data
  • email address
  • Geographic Location Data
  • Electronic Connection Data – username, password, and device type

3. How will we use the personal data collected?
Validating and measuring the effectiveness of advertising campaigns which are displayed in public spaces outside of your home. Collected data will also be combined with any of your survey responses which are associated with the same research project scope. We will never use your personal data for any purpose other than the purpose as described in section 1 of this privacy policy. We will not try to sell you anything, nor use your personal data for direct marketing purposes or share your personal data with a third party for direct marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Who will have access to the collected personal data?
Access to your information will be limited to only those Ipsos staff involved in the research project, or who need access to support the App or research data analysis systems. This may include staff in:

  • Other Ipsos Group companies involved in the research project
  • Our sub-contractors who may carry out some of the processing on Ipsos’ behalf, and under Ipsos’ control; including the service providers who host or provide technical support for our systems.

Some of the above may be based in other countries; however, they are required to abide by the same data privacy legal requirements and security arrangements as ourselves and will be subject to appropriate safeguards. A description can be obtained by contacting us as set out in section 8 of this privacy policy.

5. How will we ensure your personal data is held securely?
We take seriously our responsibilities to keep your personal data secure. As such we take every reasonable precaution to ensure your information is protected from loss, theft or misuse. These precautions include appropriate physical security of our offices, controlled access to computer systems, and use of secure, encrypted internet connections when collecting personal data.

6. How long will Ipsos keep the personal data collected from the App?
At the end of the research project, you will be notified to uninstall the App. We will securely delete all personal data collected via the app which directly identifies you no longer than 30 days after the research project has concluded. The App can be removed from your mobile device at project closure.

7. Can children use this App?
Ipsos does conduct research projects where children can participate. For these projects, we will always require prior consent from either a parent or legal guardian, an individual legally responsible for the child, before inviting the child to participate in the research.

8. How can you obtain access to your personal data and/or correct it and/or request its transfer and/or request its deletion?
You have the right to request a copy of all the personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to request the correction of any personal data we hold about you. Furthermore, you have the right for all the personal data you have provided to us, to be transferred to another party. In various circumstances, you also have the right to request from us the deletion or erasure of the personal data we hold about you.

If you have any questions about the Ipsos research project in which you are participating, please refer to the research project privacy policy from the relevant Ipsos affiliate who is independently controlling or jointly controlling the research project with a client.
If you have any complaints, we will appreciate if you give us an opportunity to resolve any issue first, by contacting Ipsos as set out above. You are, however, always entitled to contact your local regulatory authority, state or federal, or provide a review within the App Store.

10. State Legislative Requirements
Certain State laws may give you additional rights to limit the sharing of your personal data or require that you are informed of your specific privacy rights.

California Consumer Privacy Act
There are certain rights that California residents have under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”). For example, the Ipsos Policy explains how California residents can exercise their rights under the CCPA to request that we: (1) provide certain personal information that we have collected about them during the past 12 months, along with related information described below, or (2) delete certain personal information that we have collected from them. Under the CCPA, “personal information” is information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with a particular California resident or household. This information is referred to in this Notice as “Personal Data.”
If you are a California resident, you have the right to request that we disclose to you or delete, as applicable, the following information covering the 12-month period prior to your request (“Access Request”):

  1. The categories of Personal Data we collected about you and the categories of sources from which we collected the Personal Data;
  2. The business or commercial purpose for collecting Personal Data about you;
  3. The categories of third parties to whom we disclosed Personal Data about you, and the categories of Personal Data disclosed;
  4. The specific pieces of Personal Data we collected about you; and
  5. Delete Personal Data we collected from you (“Deletion Request”).
    California residents have the right to opt out of the sale of their information by businesses that sell Personal Data. The CCPA defines a “sale” as the disclosure of Personal Data for monetary or other valuable consideration. You can obtain more information regarding CCPA and exercise your right to opt out of the sale of your personal data by contacting us as outlined in section 8 of this notice. In addition, you have the right to be free from discrimination by any business for exercising your rights under the CCPA.

11. Changes to this privacy policy
We keep our privacy policy under regular review and we will place any updates on this webpage. We will also inform you of any changes via email or when you access the App after any change. Our privacy policy was last updated on 10 September 2021
